Paul Goodyear – SanFranDisko
A child of British immigrants growing up in the Greek neighborhood of Marrickville in Sydney, Australia Paul Goodyear absorbed musical influences ranging from Funk, High Energy, Disco and New Wave. He started his vinyl collection at the tender age of 12 and has never looked back. He has been a working club DJ since 1985 with residencies in Australia, Europe and the United States.
In the early 90’s inspired by the Latin Rascals and Australia’s Robert Racic, Paul Goodyear first started editing on Reel-to-Reel. His first edit was picked up by Hot Tracks and over the past 30 years he has had re-edits, remixes and productions appear regularly on remix services that include DMC Records, Direct Hit, Discotech; and Ultimix for which he is still a resident remixer. When he first heard a DMC remix in 1987 (I Love to Love – Tina Charles remixed by Sanny X) he set his sights on remixing for the label, which he started doing in 2006. His favorite mix for DMC was in 2010 when he remixed “I Love America” by Full Intention.
Although he has long retired his reel-to-reel and now uses digital technology he has never stopped editing, ensuring his sets are full of exclusive re-edits and mashups. He shares some of these reworks under the name SanFranDisko.
He has scored numerous worldwide chart hits with his remixes appearing in the US Top 20 Billboard Club Play Chart even reaching the coveted No. 1 spot on Billboard and the Pop charts in Australasia. In addition to founding his own record labels “Ace DJ Remix Service”, “Tomcat Music” and “Goodyear Muzik” he has contributed original productions to labels all over the world. His credits also include official remixes for artists including Nile Rogers, Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, Linda Clifford, Taylor Dayne, Mary Wilson, Kimberly Davis, Judy Cheeks, Ed Sheeran, Ultra Naté and more.
With many artists struggling to stay relevant as musical trends come and go and technology changes the playing field, Paul Goodyear has shown a remarkable gift for not just staying abreast of these trends, but for contributing to them and shaping them himself. Looking through press written about him you will find references such as “Disco Dignitary”, “Perfectionist Wizard in the Studio, “World Renowned Mix Master” and “DJ Sensation”.
Based in San Francisco’s Bay Area since 2010, he is now San Francisco’s hardest working DJ with multiple residencies in SF’s Queer Nightlife Scene as well as regular international and interstate Gigs. He also appears weekly on Isla 106, NDCRadio and RadioActive 91.3 as well as guesting on Dance Music Radio stations from Brazil to Italy.
