Meet The Producer
James Hamilton and Tony Prince
The first 17 editions of DMC were on CS format. CS standing for Cassette. In November and December 1983, two cassettes featured Doctor Soul’s 60s Stompers (Part One) and (Part Two).
The Producers on both mixes were credited as James Hamilton and ably assisted by Tony Prince. So the great minds got together creating two huge playlists that are just truly awesome to this day. The king pin from Record Mirror and The Royal Ruler – two great musical minds that always knew how to make a dancefloor tick. Sadly, there were only ever two such mixes from these two great giants and DJs but later became the core of two remade “Re-Visited” mixes by Rod Layman. These were duly titled in respect “Doctor Souls 60s Stompers Revisited” (Part One) and (Part Two) in 2011 on DMC Commercial Collection 338 and 339. Why because the cassette mix days were tape and splicing and no computers as we know them. In 2011 the skills were different, the technology totally different and the styling totally different but equally fantactic “wow factor” mixes.
