Meet The Producer

Darren Flinders

I got the music bug when I was about 14 years old. I loved my music lessons, especially when I got to use the Roland W30 that the school had, knowing full well that this was the keyboard The Prodigy used.
After I left school I bought some decks and started DJing. But I really wanted to produce music so started using an old Commodore Amiga and began writing music; mainly house, hardcore and trance, but I did experiment with other genres.
After a few years, I upgraded systems to a PC and started using Acid Pro and then went on to Cubase. My biggest release was a remix I did with one of my friends Johnny Dangerous and it was a remix of ‘Coming On Strong’ by Signum (this was done using Acid Pro 4), released under the alias Vinyl Mafia on TidyTwo. I have had other releases since then, but I count this one as my biggest release.
I’ve also had a few original drum and bass and breaks tracks released under my normal name.

I’m currently working for Currys PC World on the Knowhow Team.

I do have other hobbies besides music; photography is also a passion of mine and I love to get out with the camera when I can and get some awesome landscape photographs.

One of my favourite DMC Remixes is “Shine A Little Love” (DMC Disco 2020 Remix) by Danny Morris – I’m a big ELO fan and I love this version of the track. My favourite decades for music are the 80s and 90s and I’m hoping to get a few more mixes and remixes of music from these decades out there on DMC.
