BIOGRAPHY 1972 to 2021
“I have worked as a DJ for nearly 50 years, now all but retired from live work – but who knows…!?!
I have progressed through mobile, venue bars, clubs and played the widest styles of music to cater for ALL events. Experience is everything, it’s still here in abundance and I strive to make every event a pure success! Currently in semi DJ retirement, (though too many booking offers still to go completely!) but will be actively providing kit for functions as required!”
I have been a DJ for over 48 years with a massive experience in running many type of events; from weddings to corporate and from celebrations to student and childrens parties. “Pete is one of the busiest and most popular DJs around. He has an extensive music collection to suit all tastes and his presentation is of the highest professional standard. Perhaps Pete’s most celebrated bookings have been to provide the discotheque entertainment at many private parties for Elton John including all The White Tie And Tiara and Summer Balls since 1999 to date and also for a private function for Sir Paul McCartney. Pete has also run the disco at many other important events including the opening party at the London Palladium for Grease -The Musical and ‘Saturday Night Fever – The Musical’. Pete has played at all the major London hotels including:- The Hilton, The Savoy, The Dorchester and The Grosvenor House Hotel and at many other top venues including Quaglinos, The Hurlingham Club, all the major museums in London, Blenheim Palace, Cliveden, The Café Royal, Wentworth Golf Club, Royal Ascot and Highclere Castle. With his wide experience of playing at all sorts of events including wedding receptions, private parties and corporate functions. Pete is adept at judging the requirements of his audience and creating just the right atmosphere.”
CLUBS AND RESIDENCIES
I finally ceased DJing in clubs in 2010 after 38 years in leading venues. My final residency, of over eight years was for the LUMINAR LEISURE flagship @ OCEANA, KINGSTON, LONDON – CLUB OF THE YEAR 2003/4 2008/9 – RESIDENT DJ – THURS & FRI. We were bestowed with so many awards for the “Best Friday Night Out” for several years during that period. My Manager Steve Fluery was Manager Of The Year several times in my tenure and his success became instilled in his awesome team! I previously worked for SFX/Apollo Leisure, European Leisure, Yates (Wine Bars) and many Independents.
THE DAY JOB
I have worked for over 32 years for the Disco Mix Club (DMC) for Christine And Tony Prince.
I am priviliged to be their HEAD OF MUSIC. I compile the DMC ‘DJ Only’ monthly DJ CDs and the download of megamixes, remixes, promo and themed compilations. I am the DMC Download Site Manager, collating their vast back catalogue of DJ CD Collections for thousands of UK & European DJs for DMC with my wife Anita! I also do a few DJ Productions for our DJs too under the name of Showstoppers, but I leave 99.9% of it to the fabulous team of producers under the DMC banner!
You’ll have seen me as part of the team at The BPM Show and Plasa for DJ Shows and on stage for all the World DJ Championships from 1987 till 2019 – running around like a headless chicken, when I’m not falling over monitors in the darkness!
I am also Head Of Music for United DJ Radio and our latest launch DMC Radio! I also looked after much of the “back end” of the running of the station with Bob Lawrence till recently and had as many as four shows totalling 10 hours of airtime per week, with the production of the shows for the last three years on:- “DMC IN THE MIX SHOW” and “THE MOTOWN HOUR”. I also had the pleasure of introducing Eliot Kennedy to the realms of DMC and United DJ Radio – now being part of the team to help broaden people’s outlook and now a solo artist in his own right. The links go even further via Osmania with Eliot too!
I have been the subject of several magazine interviews with Mixmag, DMC Update, Kingston Live, Ministry Of Sound Magazine (at the time co-ordinated by DJ Carl Cox), Mencap News, several local newspapers (Kingston Upon Thames and The Henley Standard for probably 25 years!) and national news outlets including over 20 years of mentions in OK! Magazine and Hello Magazine!
STYLES AND GENRES PLAYED
All styles from “Pop and Soul to Rock n Roll” as well as:- Chart, Pop, Party, Funk, Dance, Disco, Student, Club, R&B, Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Rock, Indie and 1920s to 2020+. Many of my influences can be heard across the DMC Sets every month and the philosophy that music is broad, is seen there too.
